FAQ

Q1. What should I do if the adapter is not working as expected on Mac OS?

  • A1. To make your Siliconmotion-based device work properly on Mac OS, you need to down-load and install the correct driver from our website. Please note that Mac OS requires you to enable “Screen Recording” permissions for the Silicon Motion driver to function properly, so please allow the app to record the screen.

Q2. What should I do if the video ports of the adapter are not working as expected on a Windows PC?

  • A2. (1).Disconnect the adapter from the system and remove the power cable to turn it off completely (this is important to reset the unit). Keep it disconnected until the last step. (2).Go to the Control Panel, select “View by Category,” then click "Uninstall a program." Right-click the Silicon Motion software and uninstall it. (3).Then, please install the driver from our website. (4).Power on the adapter, connect it to the host, and then reboot the system.

Q3. Why does the App want to record my screen when I install the App for my Macbook?

  • A1. Mac OS requires users to permit “Screen Recording” for the Silicon Motion driver to work properly. But the Silicon Motion will not send any information to the Wavlink and the Silicon Motion. Please do not worry about that.

Q4. Why can't the Apple TV, Hulu, and Netflix play when the adapter is connected?

  • A2. The adapter could not support HDCP, so protected content such as Apple TV, Hulu, and Netflix can't play when the adapter is connected. Please disconnect it when you are playing these videos. Or you could also try to use the Chrome browser to watch these videos and disable the Hardware Acceleration.
